What this site is

NOFUF publishes news, investigations and explainers about Australian companies, courts, regulators and the people behind them. Everything we publish is sourced to a document, and the documents are listed with each story. Reading is free. Subscribing is free.

Using what we publish

You may read, link to and share our stories. You may quote up to 150 words of a story with a link and our name. You may not republish a story in full, scrape the site, or present our work as your own. Source documents we link to belong to whoever issued them; our summaries and charts are ours. Journalists and researchers who want more than 150 words can ask, and we usually say yes.

What we stand behind, and what we do not

We stand behind the accuracy of what we publish and we correct errors in the open, dated, at the top of the story and on the corrections page. We are not lawyers, accountants or financial advisers. Nothing on this site is legal, financial or investment advice, and nothing here should be relied on as such. A register extract or a court order says what it says; what it means for you is a question for someone who is retained to answer it.

If you think we have got it wrong

Write to editor@nofuf.com with the story, the passage and what you say the record actually shows. We answer every such email. If a correction is warranted it is made promptly and marked. If you are the subject of a story and believe it is defamatory, a concerns notice under the Defamation Act can be served on the publisher at that address; we will respond within the statutory period and, where a correction or clarification is warranted, we will make it.

Comments, tips and clips

The site has no comments. Tips, documents and footage sent to us are handled as set out on the tip-off, clips and privacy pages. By sending material you confirm you are entitled to send it, that it was not obtained by an offence, and that it is none of the categories below. We decide what, if anything, to publish. Material in those categories is deleted unread and, where the law requires it, reported to police or the eSafety Commissioner.

Subscribing

Subscription is free and it buys you nothing except email. There is no paid tier, no account to manage and no payment details to give us. You can leave at any time from the link in any email we send or by writing to us, and we remove you promptly. We may stop sending, or stop the list altogether, without notice, and if we do you lose nothing you paid for because you paid nothing.

Advertising

Advertising positions are described on the advertise page. Advertisements are labelled, are sold as positions rather than as influence, and have no bearing on what we cover or how. Advertisers are bound by the terms on that page.

Availability

The site is provided as it is. We aim to keep it up, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of error, and we are not liable for loss arising from its use or unavailability, to the extent the law allows us to say so.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability can be limited but not excluded, it is limited to supplying the service again.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and disputes go to its courts.

Changes

The date at the top changes when these terms do.
