100,000 Businesses Must Watch Your Money

From 1 July 2026 it covers lawyers, conveyancers, accountants, real estate agents, developers, trust and company service providers, dealers in precious metals and crypto exchanges as well. That is roughly 100,000 businesses, most of them small, and the enrolment deadline has already passed.

Victoria Will Pay $125 Million for the Second Wave. The Businesses Get About $5,165 Each.

The hotel quarantine class action settled before trial for $125 million without any admission of liability. Court-published documents show $37.5 million goes to the law firm under a group costs order, $87.19 million is shared among about 16,879 registered claimants, and the businesses that did not survive are excluded because their companies no longer exist. Objections close at 4pm on 11 September 2026 and the approval hearing is on 29 September.
